Huay Mongkol Temple is surrounded by peaceful outdoor spaces with wooden Elephant statues, where local Thai visitors perform worship ceremonies.
You can teach your toddler about the famous Thai monk, Luang Phor Thuad, whose massive statue Wat Huay Mongkol stands on top of the temple.
Just like local people do, you can walk in circles 3 times underneath the elephant’s (another statue onsite) belly wishing good fortune after you get a donation kit with flowers, gold, and incense sticks.Ā
A short walk away there is a lovely lake and garden with an artificial waterfall and cave to feed the fish or have a picnic.
Be prepared for a hot humid day and dress appropriately. Usually, people spend about an hour there but you can take longer exploring.
