As part of the grand palace package, visit Sala Chalermkrung Royal Theatre to experience something new from a different culture. The very first Thai theatre, this place is an important part of the Thai entertainment industry. A mixture of Thai and Western warts, the architectural style is elegant and modern making this theatre the first one with air-conditioners.
The first performance for public consumption was an adaptation of Thai masked dance with modern technology, consisting of lights and special effects controlled by a computer. Now the Royal Theatre hosts many types of performances such as music programs and dramas.
The admission fee is 500 baht for foreigners. There is Doi Kham shop where drinks, snacks, and souvenirs are sold.
